About the Book

The book of international journalist Nikolay Gorbunov provides for the reader to get to know Marina, the daughter of the great Russian singer Feodor Chaliapine, in the format of a dialog. The author met her at a Roman suburb and in Moscow. Though the most detailed communication happened via an unusual rout - from the Norwegian capital, where the journalist was working, to the Italian capital. Marina talked very lively not only about herself and her family but also about his famous father's family, revealing some detailes concerning Chaliapine's life abroad that remained unknown for an ordinary reader.

On Feodor Chaliapine's birthday The Book about the Daughter of the Great Singer was published

The book "Marina - Feodor Chaliapine's Daughter" was published today, on the birthday of the great Russian singer by the "KRUK" publishing house. The auther is a TASS veteran Nikolay Gorbunov. This is the seventh book by the international journalist and the writer that is related to Chaliapine's 16-year period of life and creative work abroad (he left Russia in 1922 and died in Paris in 1938).

"My chaliapiniana began in 1986 in Helsinki where I worked as a TASS correspondent" - told Nikolay Gorbunov. "I had an opportunity to meet Geogre de Godzinsky who in 1936 had worked with the singer for half a year during the tour to Japan and China." The author said he was the first Soviet journalist to ask him about his work with Feodor Chaliapine. Godzinsky was surprised and wondered "Who could be interested?" because for 50 years none of Soviet journalists ever asked about his cooperation with Chaliapine. The result of that meeting was the book "Feodor Chaliapine in Japan and China" that was published in Moscow in 2002.

While working on the books Nikolay Gorbunov was on a long TASS trip to Norway where he was simultaneously a journalist of the Agency and developer of his hobby. In 2003 he visited Rome to meet Marina Feodorovna. After the return to the country of fjords he started a new chapter of his hobby. Therefore the subtitle of the book is "My discussins with Marina Feodorovna via a phone-bridge Oslo-Rome".
