Nikolay Gorbunov, born October 23-th 1940 in Bulgakovka village, Lgov district of the Kursk Region in the central part of Russia. In 1961 graduated from Kursk Railway College. In 1961-1964 served in the USSR Air Force as airplane and air engine technician. In 1965-1970 - student of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, USSR Ministry of Foregn Affaires. 1970-2011 - journalist of TASS/ITAR-TASS, worked many years in Finland and Norway.
In Finland in 1986 met George de Godzinsky who used to be Feodor Chaliapine's piano accompanyist in 1936 during his tour in Japan and China. It was the point that gave way to Nokolay Gorbunov's many years of research of Feodor Chaliapine's biography.
Nikolay Gorbunov is a member of The Russian Writers' Society.
